BANGKOK, 5 June 2015 – The Thai-Lao border trade has reportedly expanded due to Laos’ infrastructure construction, a customs officer in Nong Khai said.
Chief of the Nong Khai Customs House Atsani Ruengbun on Friday said the Thai-Lao border trade from October 2014 to April 2015 stood at more than 34 billion baht, 1.66 billion baht was from imports and 32 billion baht exports. The value of goods in transit was 27 billion baht.
Mr. Atsani forecast that the Thai-Lao border trade had a tendency to continuously increase since Laos had many infrastructure construction projects, especially the Bueng That Luang special economic zone project. Laos was also in the process of developing the country, resulting in increasing trade and investment in various fields and higher values of imports, exports and goods in transits, he added.
