Laotian Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh is paying a state visit to Thailand this week.
According to Government Spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Phankham will arrive in Thailand on June 1 for a two-day visit.
Accompanied by his wife, Phankham is scheduled to attend an official welcoming ceremony and engage in bilateral discussions with Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House.
Thanakorn said the visit, Phankham’s first as prime minister of Laos, provides a major opportunity for the two nations to forge closer ties amid the post-pandemic economic recovery.
The two leaders are expected to discuss a strategic partnership for growth and sustainable development, trade and investment promotion, as well as the facilitation of cross-border travel and transportation.
The two premiers also expressed a desire to discuss regional connectivity and infrastructure development, specifically linking the China-Laos-Railway and the Thai rail network. (NNT)
