BANGKOK, 9 June 2015, The Ministry of Commerce and the private sector are planning to organize a leatherware sale event from June 19 – 28 at Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP)’s convention hall 1 & 2 in Bangkok.

The event is a joint effort between the DITP and the Thai Leathergoods Association, according to the Association Vice-President Veera Lertruang Punyavut.

He said that continued demand for the Kingdom’s leatherware has cushioned the industry from the underperforming export sector. Popular items include handbags, shoes, and phone cases.

Mr. Veera said the leatherware industry grew 4 percent in first four months of the year, and expected exports to reach 2 billion dollars or 67.4 billion baht in 2015.

The Association VP expected more than 200 companies to participate in the sales event, which targets 20 million baht in revenue and 25,000 attendees. He believes the fair will spark public interest in leatherware.
