BANGKOK, Thailand – The government has commended Lalisa “Lisa” Manobal for her role in HBO’s acclaimed series ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3, which has brought global attention to Thailand’s scenic landscapes. The series was filmed across multiple locations, including Bangkok, Phuket, and Koh Samui, showcasing destinations such as Ang Thong National Marine Park, Choengmon Beach, and The Fisherman’s Village. Officials have recognized the production’s impact on promoting Thailand as a premier travel and filming destination.
Following the show’s success, Thailand has seen a surge in tourism, with Koh Samui experiencing increased visitor interest. Searches for accommodations on the island have risen by 12%, while interest from U.S. tourists has grown by 65% compared to the previous month. Thailand has also become one of the top five most-searched destinations on Agoda, especially within the luxury travel segment. The rise in demand has led to higher hotel bookings and an average daily room rate increase of 40%.
Policies have been updated to enhance Thailand’s appeal as a filming destination, with increased cash rebate incentives of up to 30% and the removal of rebate limits per project. Additional benefits have been introduced for international investors in the entertainment and film production sectors, strengthening Thailand’s reputation in the global film industry.
Officials said the exposure gained through ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 is expected to generate long-term benefits for tourism and the economy, attracting future collaborations and encouraging more international projects to choose Thailand as a preferred filming location.
