NEW YORK – Lisa Manobal, better known as “Lisa” from Blackpink, made a grand appearance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) at UBS Arena, New York, where she not only wowed fans with her breathtaking performance but also took home the Best K-Pop award for the second time.
Walking the black carpet in a custom-designed goddess-like gown by Mugler, paired with Bvlgari jewelry, Lisa turned heads before taking the stage to perform her solo hits “ROCKSTAR” and “NEW WOMAN.” Her powerful performance, which showcased a more mature image, received widespread praise, proving she shines just as brightly on her own as she does with Blackpink.
Among the audience were celebrities like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Sabrina Carpenter, and Camila Cabello, who were visibly excited to witness Lisa’s electrifying performance.
However, the highlight of the night came when Lisa took home the Best K-Pop award, edging out strong competitors including Jungkook (BTS) with “Seven,” NCT DREAM with “Smoothie,” NewJeans with “Super Shy,” Stray Kids with “LALALALA,” and TXT with “Deja Vu.”
In her acceptance speech, Lisa expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying, “Thank you to MTV and the VMAs. ‘Rockstar’ is a very meaningful comeback for me after ‘LALISA,’ so this is truly special. I want to thank my RCA family, Team LLoud, and especially Blinks and Lilies all around the world. Thank you so much for this award. Khop khun ka!” she concluded in Thai.
This marks Lisa’s second win in the VMAs’ Best K-Pop category, following her 2022 victory with the song “Money.”
