BANGKOK, 11 August 2015, The Government Lottery Office (GLO) is preparing to propose five approaches to ticket distribution before it renews its contract for 70 million new tickets in December, as the office prepares for its second phase of management reform.

GLO board member Lieutenant Colonel Noon Sansanakom said the five approaches will be considered at the GLO board meeting next month. The proposals consist of suggestions collected from the general public and vendors nationwide.

The first four approaches deal with ticket quotas for minor retailers, namely to expand ticket quotas by five books, cap quotas at 10 books, cap quotas at 50 books, or remove quotas entirely and allow for unlimited books. The final approach would be to sell government lottery tickets online.

Lt. Col. Noon assured the public that the office would consider these options for the benefit of the people, as well as the minor retailers.

The GLO board member said the office has also decided to reschedule its lottery drawing for this cycle from August 16 at 11:30 hrs to August 17 at 13:00 hrs. The new date would make way for the Bike For Mom event, which conflicted with the previous schedule on Sunday. The office also moved the drawing date for the January cycle from January 16, 2016 to January 17 instead, as the previous date falls on next year’s national Teacher’s Day.
