TAK, – Mae Sot wildlife checkpoint head Soravit Khablam confirmed that wildlife trafficking is against the wildlife preservation and protection laws of 1992 and 2014.
He called on tourists and other people to not smuggle, possess or trade any protected and reserved animals or wildlife products, especially ivory pieces, from Thailand.
Any persons found to violate the laws will be subject to a maximum of four years in prison or a maximum of 40,000 baht in fine or both. People who might notice any wildlife trafficking can call Hotline 1362.
