BANGKOK, 3 January 2014 Over 16,000 blankets have been distributed to residents in Maha Sarakham Province, which has been hard hit by cold spells.
A total of 16,500 blankets have so far been given to the victims of cold snaps in Maha Sarakham Province, where 13 of its districts have been declared cold spell disaster zones. Nearly 180,000 residents have been affected by the cold weather.
The blankets were handed out by Maha Sarakham Provincial Governor Noppawat Singhasakda who expressed his appreciation to private organizations, foundations, and government agencies, who donated winter clothes and blankets to the province.
As for Bangkok, the Meteorological Department has predicted that the temperature will rise 1-2 degree Celsius. The Department has warned motorists to drive carefully as morning fog is still expected during the next couple of days.
