The joined forces of Chonburi and Banglamung police officers armed with an arrest warrant raided a house in Pattaya Land and House Village Moo.13, Nongprue after an investigation confirmed that the house had been used as an illegal lottery business.
The beautifully decorated two-storey house built on a 100 square wah of land had a number of vehicles parked outside and inside the police found 8 men and 60 women who were busy book-keeping in different rooms.
Police also found 25 fax machines, 12 computer notebooks, 63 calculators, 20 different bank books, 10 books of cashier cheques, 100,000 baht in cash, 3 hand guns, and a number of sheets with lotto numbers on them
Over 60 staffs were involved in this illegal operation.
The police stated that this was the biggest one in the eastern region and were operating with 108 smaller bookkeepers from all over the country with a cash circulation of over 100 million baht and these laborers received about 1,500 baht a day for just jotting down numbers and keeping the records
41 year old Somparn Khamani admitted that he was the owner of the house and the head dealer, he had previously been an illegal money lender and had stopped doing that as the police were very strict about money lending.
The police believe that there are more illegal lotto businesses in Sri Racha and they are keeping an eye out for them and in the meantime they will apply for arrest warrants for the 108 smaller outfits linked to this one.
