Major international Women’s conferences to be held in Thailand

BANGKOK, 4 November 2014 – The National Council of Women of Thailand (NCWT) under The Royal Patronage of Her Majesty The Queen will hold a series of international conferences on women from 17th-20th November 2014 at the United Nations Building.

The conferences consist of three sessions, the first of which is on “Assuring Sustainable Development Goals: Challenges in Transforming Women and Girls in Asia and the Pacific”, which will be held in corporation with the Asia Pacific Regional Council-International Council of Women (APRC-ICW) with the participation of leaders from 18 countries.

Another conference will be organized by the NCWT in its capacity as chair of the ASEAN Confederation of Women’s Organizations (ACWO). Participants will be female leaders from over 10 countries. The last one is the Asian and Pacific Conference on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment: Beijing Plus 20 Review. It will be held in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and will be joined by members from 55 countries.

On this occasion, the Office of the Prime Minister on behalf of the Government of Thailand in cooperation with NCWT, will organize a dinner reception on 19th November 2014 at Santi Maitree building, Government House, in honor of the representatives joining these conferences.
