Industry Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit and Japan’s METI minister Nishimura Yasutoshi discussed the cooperation framework for cooperatively developing the economies of both nations.

Thailand’s Minister of Industry and Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) have discussed cooperation in developing the industries of Thailand and Japan. The two ministers agreed to focus on 3 aspects of industrial promotion.



Industry Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit and Japan’s METI minister Nishimura Yasutoshi discussed the cooperation framework for cooperatively developing the economies of both nations. The two ministers expressed their intention to elevate the capability and robustness of the industries of Thailand and Japan. They agreed to focus on 3 aspects of industrial promotion, the first of which is the joint development of digital technology skills among personnel in industries. The second aspect is the driving of the bio-circular-green (BCG) policy in target industries. The third aspect is the strengthening of the supply chain via joint collaborations between the Thai and Japanese private sectors.



Mr. Nishimura indicated that Japan remains committed to investing in Thailand. There are many major Japanese companies planning to expand their production bases to Thailand at present. This is especially true for companies involved with the electric vehicle production industry.

2022 data indicates that Japanese investment projects make up 23% of all foreign investment projects in Thailand. (NNT)
