The Thai Journalists Association (TJA) has hosted an event at the Muang Thai Life Assurance Auditorium on Ratchadaphisek Road to celebrate the achievements of individuals and organizations in the media industry. The event, marked by the presentation of the “Newspaper Person of the Year” award and other honors, was attended by a large gathering of media professionals.
The highlight of the ceremony was the awarding of the “Newspaper Person of the Year,” presented by Former Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai. Among the recipients were Matichon Public Company Limited Chairman Khanchai Boonpan and Thai Rath newspaper Senior Editor Manich Suksomjit.

The TJA also paid tribute to the contributions of five media foundations. Honored for their impactful work in the media sector and educational efforts were the Thai Rath Foundation, Saeng-Saikee Hatrakul Foundation, the Dr. Kowit Woraphiphat Foundation, the Isra Amantakul Foundation, and Saengchai Sunthornwat Foundation. These organizations were celebrated for their dedicated efforts in supporting and enhancing journalism and media education standards.
The ceremony included a special video presentation that took the audience through the TJA’s journey since it was established in 1941. This retrospective highlighted the organization’s first president, Phraya Preechanusasna, and its initial headquarters in the Phra Nakhon district of Bangkok.
In his closing remarks, Chuan commended the award recipients and expressed his appreciation for the TJA’s efforts in arranging the event. He also emphasized the importance of recognizing the dedication and excellence in the Thai media industry and the collaborative contributions of various organizations toward improving media standards and education in Thailand.
