BANGKOK – A National Reform Steering Assembly committee is planning to ask for more authority for the country’s telecom regulator.
Chairman of the NRSA’s committee on mass communications Air Chief Marshal Kanit Suwannet said that the committee is planning to propose an amendment to the Act on Organization to Assign Radio Frequency and Regulate the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Services B.E. 2553 after the New Year holiday period.
ACM Kanit said that the planned amendment will be about the executive board of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission.
Specifically, the committee is going to suggest the merger of the National Telecommunications Commission or NTC board and the NBTC board in order to achieve unity at work, he added.
ACM Kanit revealed that the committee will also propose that the NBTC should have more authority in managing frequencies in the country.
