BANGKOK, 1 May 2015 – The Meteorological Department has forecast that the summer heat in Thailand will continue through early May while the rainy season will kick in later in the month.

Director-General of the Meteorological Department Wanchai Sakudomchai indicated that temperatures around Thailand are expected to hover at high levels as summer is still in full swing. During the long weekend between Labor Day and Coronation Day, the mercury is likely to peak. Scattered thunderstorms may also occur in many areas; therefore, holidaymakers traveling on the road are advised to be extra cautious.

Mr Wanchai said the hot weather will begin to taper off towards mid-May before the expected arrival of the rainy season in the third week of the month. Similar to last year, this year’s precipitation is forecast to be below the norm. Agriculturists and consumers are thus encouraged to use water sparingly.
