BANGKOK, 27 September 2013The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s visits to overseas countries are all aimed at ensuring good relationship with strategic partners and based on Thailand’s maximum benefit.

Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, said each overseas visit of the Prime Minister focuses on strengthening ties, particularly with ASEAN neighbours and countries with long-standing relationship, as well as strategic partners in trade and economy.

He went on to say that PM Yingluck’s back-to-back visits, with more than one destination in a journey, reflect the efficiency of the government to stabilize relationship with other nations.

Miss Yingluck was on her European tour a fortnight ago during which she visited Switzerland, Italy, and Montenegro. Among whom she met were Navanethem Pillay, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Swiss President Ueli Maurer, His Holiness Pope Francis, Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta, and Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic.
