NAKHON SAWAN, 30 Oct 2013 Several provinces in the Northeast have begun to experience morning chills, and migrant birds fleeing cold weather abroad have arrived at Bung Boraphet in Nakhon Sawan.

The majority of the migratory birds observed at Bung Boraphet are ringed teals, whistling ducks, cotton pygmy geese and grebe. Rare birds have also been spotted taking up shelter at the lake. Experts believe that, compared to previous years, more migratory birds will arrive during this cold season because the lake’s condition has returned to normal, after the completion of 2012’s dredging project to make the lake serve as a water retention area.

At the Phuphan mountain range in Sakon Nakhon, the temperature dropped to 10 degrees on Tuesday, a result of a high pressure area extending from China to cover Thailand.

According to Wanchai Chaiwiset, director of the weather bureau’s station in Loei, although the temperature in the upper part of the Northeast will be increasing, cool temperature and fog will still be experienced in the morning. Some areas may encounter heavy fog in the early morning, which may decrease visibility to less than 100 meters
