Minister of Public Health reports 28 injuries from Victory Monument bombing

BANGKOK, 19 January 2014  At least 28 people have been injured in the bombing at Victory Monument, says the Minister of Public Health. 

According to Public Health Minister, Dr. Pradit Sinthawanarong, at least 28 people were injured this morning in a bomb attack on the People’s Democratic Reform Committee rally at Victory Monument. The victims, 8 of whom in critical condition, have been transported to Ratchavithee Hospital, Ramathibodhi Hospital, Phra Mongkut Klao Hospital, and Chulalongkorn Hospital. A Post Today reporter, identified as Ms. Sitthinee Huangnak, was among the injured. Dr. Pradit condemned the perpetrators of the incident.

Immediately after the incident, Police Major General Wicharnwat Borirakkul, the Commander of the Metropolitan Police Division 1, visited the crime scene and launched an investigation into the bomb attack. Bomb components were found at the scene, and are being carefully examined by bomb experts.
