Minister Tewan on Buddhism promotion mission in southern border provinces

PATTANI – Prime Minister’s Office Minister Tewan Liptapallop today visited Pattani to hear problems faced by Buddhist monks in the area, delivering a message of care and support from the Prime Minister to villagers.

Tewan Liptapallop today visited Buddhist temples in Pattani, starting at Wat Chang Hai Temple, where he paid his respects to the portrait of Luang Pu Tuad, a monk revered by villagers in Khuan Nori subdistrict, and then paid his respects to Abbot Phra Suthara Pariyattiwithan, to whom he has stressed the government’s objective to protect Buddhist monks in southern border provinces who serve as the center of faith among local Buddhist communities.

He then traveled to Wat Mujalinthavapi Viharn Temple, also known as Wat Tuyong, which is the main temple of Nong Jik district. He paid his respects to Abbot Phra Suthi Samanawat, and to the portrait of the former abbot in the monastery.

On this occasion, the PMO Minister met with villagers, where he conveyed the Prime Minister’s message of moral support to local communities, and gathered input on obstacles faced by villagers to report back to the Prime Minister, promising that the government will continue to provide help and will work to achieve peace in the deep south.

As the supervisor of the National Office of Buddhism, the PMO Minister said he has ordered the allocation of funds to temples in southern border provinces to promote learning of Buddhist teachings, and other engaging activities in the temples.
