‘Ministerial Segment of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2024’ in New York City

H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the opening of the Ministerial Segment of the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development 2024, held under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

At the United Nations Headquarters, New York, H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the opening of the Ministerial Segment of the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development 2024, held under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on 15 July 2024.



The main theme of HLPF 2024 is “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions”, and beginning from last week, debates have been held on new and innovative ways to expedite actions toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG1 (No Poverty), SDG2 (Zero Hunger), SDG13 (Climate Action), SDG16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

HLPF 2024 is also an opportunity to review progress made since the SDG Summit 2023, in which the Prime Minister participated. Preparations toward the Summit for the Future, to be held during 22 – 23 September 2024, will also be made, where Thailand stands ready to play a constructive role. (MFA)
