Prachaup Khiri Khan, 13 August 2019 (NNT) – The wall of Ban Morasuap dam has collapsed, leaving a 10-meter wide gap. The Advisor to the Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, yesterday visited affected areas ordering close monitoring and constant communication with villagers for their safety.
Advisor to the Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment Yutthaphon Ankinandana, has visited Morasuap dam in Bang Saphan district, Prachaup Khiri Khan, where a section of the retaining wall has been found cracked open and spilling water. The Department of Water Resources has been ordered to conduct surveys necessary to test the dam’s structural integrity, and to work with engineers on the repair of the reservoir.
Water Resources Office Region 7 has been ordered to acquire data from the Royal Irrigation Department regarding water levels in previous monsoon seasons in order to find preventive measures, while MNRE’s agencies have been ordered to closely monitor the situation and constantly communicate with the general public to ensure their safety.
