Director General of the Department of Trade Negotiations Auramon Supthaweethum is joining the seventh round of Sri Lanka-Thailand Free Trade Agreement Negotiations from 9-11 October 2023 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
This meeting includes both a meeting of the Trade Negotiating Committee, which oversees and follows up on the overall negotiations, and a meeting of 6 sub-working groups, including 1) Trade in Goods, 2) Rule of Origin, 3) Trade in Services, 4) Investment, 5) Technical Barriers to Trade, and 6) Law. Thailand and Sri Lanka aim to conclude the negotiations before the end of this year.
Auramon stated that in addition to FTA negotiations, Thailand will attend the Sub-Committee on Trade-related Matters on 12 October 2023, which is also a forum for bilateral meetings between Thailand and Sri Lanka to find ways to promote and solve problems of trade barriers between them, as well as carrying out economic cooperation activities under the Thailand-Sri Lanka Strategic Economic Partnership MOU.
