BANGKOK, 27 May 2015 – The Ministry of Labor has recently held an executive forum to find ways to improve skilled labor in Thailand before the arrival of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
According to Labor Minister General Surasak Kanjanarat, academics and experts from both private and public sectors were invited to share their insight and advice on how to improve skill development and increase labor competitiveness.
The forum was focused on the tourism and auto industries. Thailand needs more tour guides with greater foreign language fluency, as the number of tourists increases each year.
General Surasak claimed that the cost of labor was not the reason foreign investors moved their production bases away from Thailand. Many have chosen Thailand due to its skilled labor.
