BANGKOK – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports plans to implement a Tourism Gateway Project.
Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanawarangkun commented that the value of electronic commerce in tourism industry accounted for 23 percent of total values in 2014 while the Electronic Transactions Commission estimated that 81 percent of tourism operators has used online marketing.
A survey on attitudes and preferences of foreign tourists to Thailand in 2015 found out that 81 percent of foreign visitors obtained tourism information from websites and social media before traveling to this country.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has planned to keep tourism industry abreast with digital economy by using modern technology under the Tourism Gateway Project. Digital media include applications for smart trip planners which can be adjusted to meet the needs of individual travelers.
