Bangkok – Japanese car giant Mitsubishi has plans to manufacture electric automobiles in Thailand with a targeted 13 billion yen (US$120 million) in total sales by 2021 and with venture capital of an additional 12 billion yen ($110 million) by 2024.
Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak welcomed Mitsubishi Motor Corp Chief Executive Officer Osamu Masuko to Bangkok this week, the latter giving a briefing on the firm’s expanded investment plans in Thailand.
If the Japanese firm follows through on its investment plans for electric vehicle manufacturing in Thailand, the kingdom would become the leader of this kind of vehicle production within the ASEAN region.
