SUPHAN BURI (NNT) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) continues to promote animal husbandry among farmers at the Thai buffalo conservation village, Si Prachan district, Suphan Buri province.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Praphat Phothasuthon has continued to promote animal husbandry in Suphan Buri so that farmers can earn money during the four months of the dry season. He also opened a project offering loans promoting animal husbandry and related businesses under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of Livestock Development and the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives said nowadays, natural disasters occur repeatedly in many areas causing farmers not to be able to keep farming as usual. Their agricultural products have been damaged and they have been affected by price slumps due to low product quality. The MOAC is aware of the problem and has sought ways to help the affected farmers. Therefore, The MOAC has organized the project promoting animal husbandry, with the cooperation of the MOAC and the Ministry of Finance.
The project is aimed at enhancing the capacity of the Thai livestock sector, relieving the suffering caused by natural disasters and the impact of the decline in agricultural prices, while supporting the management of agricultural produce markets, that sell the raw materials for animal feed, and creating new career options by identifying areas unsuitable for raising animals.
The BAAC has offered loans of not more than one million baht with an interest rate of 100 baht per year. Each group can get not more than 10 million baht in accordance with the conditions of each project. Farmers with NPLs can participate in the project by contacting the BAAC and paying in installments in accordance with the regulations.
