Bangkok – The Ministry of Public Health continues to support medical cannabis usage, and is now set to allow some 3,000 folk doctors to prescribe cannabis products beginning this month, and authorize production of 1 million more bottles of cannabis extract for the treatment of patients.

Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul said the government is supporting medical cannabis and traditional Thai medical practices to help improve the living quality of patients. The first batch of cannabis extract, produced by the Government Pharmaceutical Organization and totalling 4,500 bottles, will be administered to patients starting from August 7, with 5,500 more bottles to be produced. The two lots of production will cover some 4,000-5,000 patients.

In the coming week, the Minister of Public Health will be signing a ministerial announcement endorsing some 3,000 folk doctors to use the new cannabis products.
