BANGKOK, 19 July 2015 – The Sukhothai irrigation project has indicated that the rainfall in Sukhothai province added water to many reservoirs in the upper part of the country. Despite more water, the irrigation project still warns people to use water economically.

Director of the Sukhothai irrigation project Mongkhol Suphakai said good falls of rain last week in the province increased the water level in many reservoirs, especially Huay Tha Phae reservoir in Si Satchanalai district. The average rainfall in the areas north of the reservoir was measured at 37.5 millimeters.

The current water volume of the reservoir is 19.2 million cubic meters or 33% of the total capacity. The reservoir discharges 0.16 million cubic meters of water per day.

However, the combined water volume from all reservoirs in the district is not sufficient for 410,000 Rai of farmland in the province and the water is still reserved for consumption only.
