BANGKOK, 7 January 2014 According to the Ministry of Transport, the planned shutdown of Bangkok is expected to make it difficult for around 1 million people to commute, as 151 roads and 131 bus routes will be affected by the shutdown.
The ministry revealed on Monday the shutdown would affect 13 BTS stations, 9 MRT stations, 14 piers, 1 expressway route, 5 train stations, and 2 Airport Link stations.
Vehicle parking areas have been prepared by the ministry to accommodate commuters who travel into Bangkok from the suburbs and then leave at the end of the day. Commuters would be able to park at these spaces and board buses provided by the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority to get into Bangkok and vice versa when they return home.
