PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 15 September 2015- The Appeals Court has upheld the death sentence for the former State Railway of Thailand employee who raped and murdered a 13-year-old girl boarding a train from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Bangkok on July 5th, 2014.
The Hua Hin Court on Monday read the Appeal Court’s verdict. The court said that the defendant, Wanchai Saengkhao, had committed a serious crime without showing any remorse and only admitted to his crime due to the overwhelming evidence. The court thus sentenced Mr. Wanchai to death.
Investigators were able to collect solid evidence implicating Mr. Wanchai as the murderer, which included his finger prints and DNA traces.
According to the law, the defendant has the rights to lodge an appeal within 30 days.
