BANGKOK, 31 October 2011 – The atmosphere at the business areas along Ranong-Ko Song border is bustling with Myanmar people from Ko Song province and nearby areas flocking to Ranong province to purchase necessary goods after being informed about the rising price and the shortage of some product items.

Oil, rice, canned food, instant noodle, sugar, seasoning powder and eggs are the popular items among people from Myanmar. Following the news of the price jack up, the Myanmar and fishery entrepreneurs are entering Ranong to accumulate the food for their crew during the fishing season, causing all of the stalls to run out of the goods rapidly.

Myanmar people are afraid that the goods shortage from Thailand, especially the necessary items, will affect their lives since Thailand is now facing severe flooding, causing damages to the industrial factories and transportation routes.
