BANGKOK, 13 May 2015 – The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) convene to discuss the current draft constitution on May 15.
NLA Second Vice President Peerasak Porchit revealed that NLA members have agreed that a discussion on the draft constitution will be beneficial for the assembly’s further consideration of the new charter.
NLA member Somchai Sawangkarn said the discussion will touch upon all major chapters of the constitution, as well as whether a public referendum should be held.
However, NLA Spokesperson Dr Jed Sirathranont noted that the assembly will not pass an official motion on any of their agreements, as the NLA does not have the authority to make amendment proposals to the constitution. The NLA will instead submit the conclusions as suggestions to the Constitution Drafting Committee for consideration.
