BANGKOK – The National Reform Steering Assembly is keen to open sports universities across the country in the near future.

The NRSA on joined a forum to discuss the development of sports at local and regional levels. The meeting took place in Ubon Ratchathani province.

The forum, which also saw the participation of representatives from various local administrative organizations, schools from the northeastern region, sports associations and clubs, was aimed at collecting opinions to help formulate a sustainable development plan to promote excellence in sports competitions, while promoting unity within communities.

Mr. Charnwit Polchiwin, an NRSA member, delivered a lecture on the general situation and remaining challenges in Thailand’s field of popular sports, saying that in recent times Thai people have been enjoying more sporting activities and more participants have become professional Thai athletes. This is an important step that will help raise the country’s sports profile, while all related parties must understand how to win with grace, how to accept a loss, when to forgive and when to apologize.

He added that the NRSA is hopeful that sports universities will be opened across the country, to enable Thai sports champions to compete more effectively at an international level and to help provide Thais with better health from sporting activities and an enhanced quality of life.
