BANGKOK, 5 September 2014 –Rainfall nationwide, the Meteorological deputy director-general Songkran Aksa reports, is still lower than the norm in the past few years, while separately the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) director-general Chatchai Promlert has confirmed that all agencies are putting their best effort into helping flood victims.
In the daily televised program entitled “Thailand Steps Forward”, Mr Songkran said that the rainy season was expected to continue into the middle of October and the rainfall is likely to be measured at a lower than average mark.
Despite the official rainfall records, Mr Chatchai noted, that people from 5,245 villages in 46 provinces have been affected by inundations, so far this rainy season. All relevant authorities are advised to provide clear and accurate weather information to the people. And, he assures the public that government agencies will continue to provide their best care for people.
