BANGKOK, 20 January 2013 The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry will ask for the Cabinet approval of tens of millions baht in state budget to strengthen levees along the Yom River in Sukhothai Province.
Natural Resources and Environment Minister Preecha Rengsomboonsuk revealed on Sunday that he will seek an approval from the Cabinet for 50.1 million baht in a special budget to construct and restore flood walls and levees along the banks of the Yom River at in Sukhothai province.
Mr. Preecha’s request is set to be made during this week’s mobile Cabinet meeting in Uttaradit Province, He said that the construction and the restoration will be immediately launched after the budget approval.
The Natural Resources and Environment Minister is confident that the project will help prevent Sukhothai residents from future flooding.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sermsak Pongpanit, Deputy Education Minister, on Sunday, traveled to the ASEAN Educational Center at Anuban Phitsanulok School, where all information of ASEAN member countries, including ways of life, cultures, governments and politics and languages, has been collected for research purposes.
The Deputy Education Minister also urged provincial state executives under the Education Ministry to make sure that Thai youths are offered equal educational opportunities.
