CHIANG RAI, 13 December 2015 –The president of the Navy Wives Association handed out winter apparel and blankets to locals in Chiang Rai as temperatures in the northern region drop.
Navy Wives Association President Pranee Areenij along with members of the navy’s Mekong Riverine Unit handed out goods to help locals deal with the chilly weather in Chiang Saen district of Chiang Rai province. Students, senior citizens, and other locals received blankets and jackets among other relief items.
Temperatures in the area have continuously dropped, causing many locals to suffer from the cold spell as they lack necessities to keep them warm.
Goods were distributed to the district’s sheriff, which will later be handed out to other locals. The local school also received education and sports supplies.
In addition, a medical team from the navy was also present to provide medical advice to locals, as many senior citizens and young children are prone to falling ill due to the cold weather.
