BANGKOK, 7 July 2015 – TV viewers are being warned against a bogus distribution of digital TV coupons, as the next round has yet to be approved by the National Broadcasting Telecommunication Commission (NBTC).
The NBTC has received reports of a third party claiming to represent the organization. They have allegedly been telling people they would bring a digital TV set top box to the latters’ homes in exchange for a copy of homeowners’ ID cards and house registrations.
According to the NBTC, no coupon has so far been given out to anyone, as the agency is still trying to collect public opinions through regional surveys at present.
People are encouraged to report to the NBTC immediately by calling 1200, its hotline number, if they come across anyone posing as its staff and asking for their personal documents.
