BANGKOK, 17 August 2014 – The National Council for Peace and Order has approved a special budget to tackle flood problems across the country.
Gen. Chatchai Sarikalaya, the NCPO Economic Affairs’ Deputy Chief and the chairman of the Water Management and Policy Committee, on Saturday chaired a meeting to follow up on all state-initiated efforts related to water management and flood prevention.
Gen. Chatchai said that all related agencies informed the meeting of the progress of their endeavours which are now believed to make the implementation of all projects possible in November.
When asked about the flooding in the Northeast and the East of Thailand, Gen. Chatchai said that the NCPO has approved an additional budget of 800 million baht to solve flood problems while also preparing to prevent droughts taking hold in the future.
The allocated budget will also make possible a survey of suitable locations for village wells across the country, according to Gen. Chatchai.
