BANGKOK, 1 September 2014 – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has announced its three-month performance, claiming achievements in all areas in line with the road map to move the country forward. The overall political situation was peaceful and the people enjoyed better well-being, it said.
The council said it was now in the second phase of the road map which concerned the enforcement of a temporary charter, the establishment of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA), the appointment of a prime minister, the drafting of a constitution as well as the establishment of the National Reform Council (NRC) within one year.
The NCPO came to power on 22 July 2014 after the administration of Yingluck Shinawatra.
In terms of politics, the council set up the 200-member NLA and is now selecting the 250-member NRC whose main responsibility is to reform the country in various fields.
By following the road map, Thailand’s economic growth in the second quarter 2014 rose by 0.9% compared to the first quarter and the GDP increased by 0.4% compared to the same period last year, the NCPO said.
