Bangkok – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has called on the public to refrain from burning activities at this time in order to reduce the effects of smog pollution.
The NCPO Secretary-General, Gen. Apirat Kongsompong, said all sectors are working to tackle forest fires and smog in northern Thailand, and it is necessary to monitor and solve these problems on a regular basis.
Gen. Apirat said the general public should refrain from burning as it could worsen the drought situation this year.
He has instructed government agencies to be prepared for drought conditions and provide assistance to the people in affected areas.
