On June the 29th tourist police inspected a room in a guesthouse in Soi Prathamnak 6 that is rented by an Iranian man who told the police that his safe which contained 3,500 US dollars been opened and the money had been stolen.
The guesthouse manager said she had just hired a new 33 year old maid named ‘Mam’ 2 days before and that after she had done her daily duties she had not returned the key to the manager and the key would have given her access to the safe in the Iranian mans room.
The safe – minus the 3,500 US dollars.
Now the maid wasn’t answering her phone and the manager had no documentation for the maid and only knew that she had previously worked at another hotel in South Pattaya.
The manager reimbursed the man with his rent money as a gesture of goodwill but was unable to compensate him for his loss of the 3,500 dollars.
