BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI) has appointed Prof. Dr. Sompong Klaynongsruang as its new president, bringing a bold vision to enhance the nation’s scientific and technological landscape. She has launched the ‘SRI for All’ initiative, which aims to empower Science, Research, and Innovation (SRI) organizations and position Thailand for significant advancements.

Central to her vision are four transformative strategies designed to reshape the SRI ecosystem. The first strategy, “Synergy & Boundaryless,” promotes collaboration among stakeholders and strategic partners to foster trust and cooperation. The second, “Intelligent SRI System,” aims to modernize the SRI ecosystem, enhancing its speed, efficiency, and transparency. The third strategy, “Leap Technology Investment,” reflects Thailand’s ambition to become a leader in technology by focusing on priority industries and creating new economic growth sectors, or S-curves. The final strategy, “Knowledge Governance – SRI for All,” seeks to decentralize the SRI system at the regional level, creating platforms that enhance access to knowledge and innovation.

To tackle emerging challenges and seize opportunities, TSRI has developed a strategic budget allocation plan. A significant 60-65% of its resources will be invested in S-curve technologies, targeting niche areas where Thailand can achieve global competitiveness. Approximately 30% will support organizations and stakeholders looking to integrate into the TSRI ecosystem or requiring foundational research and development for their initiatives. The remaining 10-15% will focus on translating research findings into practical applications, ensuring that the benefits reach the Thai population.
