BANGKOK, 11 August 2015 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that former US envoy for North Korean policy Glyn Davies will be stationed in the Kingdom as the US Ambassador to Thailand in a month’s time.
Foreign Minister Thanasak Patimaprakorn said US President Barack Obama will sign the official document designating him as the Ambassador to Thailand and Mr. Davies will undergo a swearing-in ceremony in the next month.
Secretary of State John Kerry assured the minister that Mr Davies is a skilled diplomat and is suitable for the role. Mr Davies earlier posted a tweet saying he is looking forward to his role as ambassador and joining the US embassy in Thailand.
Mr Davies was nominated for the position by President Barack Obama in mid-April. The US Senate has confirmed the appointment of Mr Davies earlier this month.
