Chiang Mai will have service at every temple in the province

Chiang Mai residents will take part in services that will be held at temples across the province and around the country to mourn His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on New Year’s Eve. Ceremonies will be held at all Royal temples and all major temples as well as at temples around the city and the province; around 1,000 temples in Chiang Mai are expected to take part.

The Sangha Supreme Council has asked temples across the country to take part in the services. Around 1 million people are expected to join in Chiang Mai province and up to 20 million nationwide Siriya Boonsiri­preak, Director of Chiang Mai Provincial Culture Office said.

New Year’s Eve will see mourning ceremonies around the city, the province and the country as the nation pays their respects to His Majesty King Rama IX.
