BANGKOK, 6 May 2015- The National Council for Peace and Order and the government will start implementing new measures against overpriced lottery tickets next month, right after the previous lottery quota expires.
The Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, Major General Sansern Keawkamnerd, has said the new measures are aimed at reorganizing the entire lottery distribution system. According to him, those who have in the past allocated tickets have been selling the tickets to third parties, making the tickets more expensive as they move from one seller to another. The move creates burden to the consumers while allowing those involved in the scheme to make the so-called grey money.
The spokesperson said the new quota system would distribute lottery tickets to seller both in and outside of the capital, he said, adding that these tickets would be sold at lower price and that the government would initiate a buy-back program to deal with unsold tickets.
