BANGKOK, Thailand – The National Health Security Office (NHSO) has announced an expansion of its Universal Healthcare Scheme, allowing pharmacies to treat 32 minor illnesses under the 30 Baht healthcare program. Starting September 3, participating pharmacies displaying the “30 Baht Treatment Anywhere” logo can now provide free consultations and medications for a broader range of conditions, up from the previous 16.
The move enables individuals covered by the scheme to receive treatment for various common ailments, such as headaches, menstrual pain, diarrhea, minor burns, and mild COVID-19 symptoms, among others. Patients only need to present their ID card at any participating pharmacy to access these services at no cost.
The NHSO has established guidelines for these “quality pharmacies” to ensure that they meet the standards set by the Pharmacy Council of Thailand, focusing on primary care for minor illnesses. This makes healthcare more accessible and reduces the burden on hospitals by allowing pharmacies to manage less severe conditions.
For those seeking nearby participating pharmacies, the NHSO has provided a website where locations can be easily found. Additional information and assistance are available through the NHSO hotline 1330 and online channels, including Line and Facebook. (NNT)
