NIDA Poll – Public discontent with the 6-month performance of Prime Minister’s government

BANGKOK, Thailand – NIDA Poll has revealed a significant level of dissatisfaction among the public with the performance of Prime Minister Phaetongtarn Shinawatra’s government over the past six months, March 2. The Ministry of Commerce recorded the highest dissatisfaction rate, with 62.44% of respondents expressing discontent.

The survey, conducted between February 24-26, by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), sampled 1,310 people nationwide, aged 18 and over, from various regions, education levels, occupations, and income brackets. The poll aimed to assess public satisfaction with the government’s performance during the first six months under Prime Minister Phaetongtarn Shinawatra.



When asked about their overall satisfaction with the government’s work, the survey results showed:

34.58% were somewhat dissatisfied.

32.60% were fairly satisfied.

20.00% were completely dissatisfied.

12.82% were very satisfied.

In terms of satisfaction with the Prime Minister’s performance specifically, 32.60% expressed dissatisfaction, while 31.76% indicated they were fairly satisfied.

22.28% were completely dissatisfied with the Prime Minister’s performance.

13.36% were very satisfied.


When it comes to public confidence in the government’s ability to address the country’s problems:

36.41% were not very confident.

26.26% were not confident at all.

25.04% were somewhat confident.

12.29% were very confident.



In terms of satisfaction with the work of individual ministries, the top five ministries with the highest public satisfaction were:

Ministry of Public Health – 49.47%

Ministry of Education – 47.33%

Ministry of Tourism and Sports – 47.18%

Ministry of Social Development and Human Security – 45.50%

Ministry of Energy – 44.96%



However, the five ministries with the highest dissatisfaction were:

Ministry of Commerce – 62.44%

Ministry of Labour – 61.22%

Ministry of the Interior – 60.31%

Ministry of Justice – 59.92%

Ministry of Defence – 58.17%  (TNA)
