BANGKOK, 8 January 2015 – The National Legislative Assembly has resolved to accept the draft amendment of the law on the organization of the military court.
On Thursday, the NLA meeting chaired by Mr. Pornpetch Wichitcholchai reviewed the draft amendment of the Act for the Organization of the Military Court, which was presented by Deputy Defense Minister Gen. Udomdej Sitabutr.staff
According to Gen. Udomdej, the amendment is needed because the original law, the Act for the Organization of the Military Court B.E. 2498, has been in effect for a long time and become outdated due to the change in the structure and the current operations of the military.
In the proposed amendment, the staff judge advocates and the military prosecutors will receive a more acceptable amount of remuneration, appropriate for their roles and duties.
The NLA members voted 189 to one, with two abstentions, to accept the draft and agreed to set up a 15-member special committee to review it
