BANGKOK, 14 July 2015 – The National Legislative Assembly has accepted a petition from employees of Thai Airways International who are opposing the planned amendment of Cooperatives Act.
NLA’s First Vice President Surachai Liengboonlertchai on Monday met with representatives from the Thai Airway’s cooperatives who objected to the amendment of Cooperative Act, which was proposed by the Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives Ministry.
Thai Airway’s cooperatives deputy chairman Chart-fah Prakasit said that the objection was particularly against six out of 13 proposed amendments because they would allow state officials to be able to interfere more into the Thai Airway’s co-op.
The opposed points included additional authority for the registrar, the loose appointment of a committee to review all appeals, and the unclear stipulation of the retention of net profits as a fund to stabilise the co-op system.
