BANGKOK, 8 May 2015 – The National Legislative Assembly has approved the final reading of a draft law related to ship mortgage and maritime liens.
During its sitting on Thursday, the NLA voted 171 to zero with five abstentions, to pass the third reading of the draft Ship Mortgage & Maritime Liens Act, which means the law is almost ready to be put into effect.
The meeting also approved the agenda to set up a special committee to review the measures aimed at promoting Thailand’s merchant navy. The endorsement was reached with 165 supporting votes, no vote against it and five abstentions.
In addition, a 33-member special committee will be set up to handle the review within 90 days.
