BANGKOK, 29 May 2015 – The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has approved of an amendment to the Machinery Registration Act, to reflect the needs of a modern Thailand.
The legal body heard a report from a special committee tasked with scrutinizing the bill. The legislation tasks private agencies with monitoring the application process of machinery ownership licenses. The special committee proposed that these agencies be certified according to strict engineering practices.
The committee also called for relaxing previous regulations on machine relocations, revising punishments for violations of the Act, and adjusting associated licensing fees to be relevant to today’s economic environment.
After the report, the NLA voted 161 in favor, with 5 abstentions.
